Assign a Case
You can assign a responsibility for a case by setting a "case owner". Your application can be configured so that case owners have additional permissions over a case, such as viewing a case's page, editing case details, and progressing a case through its workflow steps. Each case can be assigned to one case owner, who must have a Case IQ account. You can assign or reassign a case owner in two different places in the application: (1) a Case’s page or (2) the Cases Grid page. Assign from a Case's Page
To assign the case owner from a case's page:
- Click the Options () button on a case's page. The Options menu will contain either the “Assign Case Owner” option if the case is currently unassigned or the “Reassign Case Owner” option if the case already has an owner. Select the available assignment option in the menu.
- In the “Assign the case” or “Reassign the case” pop-up, click the “Case Owner” dropdown and begin to type in an Case IQ user’s name to search for their account in the system.
- Click the user’s name to populate the field.
- If you want to unassign the case, meaning that you will remove the current case owner without reassigning it to another user, you can instead click the “X” beside the current case owner’s name.
- You have the option to indicate a reason for the assignment. Click the “Assign Reason” dropdown and review the available options. Click one of the reason options if any are applicable.
- Click the Save button to assign or reassign the case. To close without changing the case assignment, click the “X” button.
Reassigning an individual case after it has already been assigned is completed using the same steps to assign the case. The name of the current case owner will be displayed in the case owner field and the option to assign a user will now read “Re-assign Case Owner” instead.
Assign from the Cases Grid Page
- Select one or more cases in the Cases grid by clicking the row checkbox. You can select all cases on the page by clicking the checkbox in the grid header.
- The Re-assign button will be displayed in the grid header after selecting at least one case on the Cases grid. Click the Re-assign button.
- Similar to the assignment process on a case's page, click the “Case Owner” dropdown in the “Assign the case” pop-up and begin to type in a Case IQ user’s name to search for their account in the system.
- Click the user’s name in the “Case Owner” dropdown to populate the field.
- If you want to unassign the case, meaning that you will remove the current case owner without reassigning it to another user, you can instead click the “X” beside the current case owner’s name.
- You have the option to indicate a reason for the assignment. Click the “Assign Reason” dropdown and review the available options. Click one of the reason options if any are applicable.
- Click the Save button to assign or reassign the case. To close without changing the case assignment, click the “X” button.
