How can we help?

Link a Profile to a Case

You can link a profile and case to indicate a connection between a person and incident. For example, you could link a profile to a case to highlight a conflict of interest related to the incident, without adding that person as a party to the case. You can link a profile and case from either the case's or profile's page.

Link from the Profile's Page

To link a profile to a case from a profile's page:

  1. Click the Linked Cases tab on a profile's page. Then, click the Link Case button.
  2. In the Linked Case Search pop-up, search for and select a case to link with the profile. You can use the "Search grid..." bar and grid filters to narrow down the results displayed in the grid.
  3. After selecting a case, you can enter an explanation for linking the case and profile in the “Reason for Link” field.
  4. To link the case and profile, click the Add Link button. If you need to return to the search results and choose a different case, click the Back button.
  5. The case you linked to the profile will be displayed on both the Linked Cases tab of the profile's page and the Profiles sub-tab under the Links tab on the case's page.

Edit a Profile and Case Link

After creating a link between a profile and case, you can later edit the "Reason" field from either a case's page or a profile's page. The video clip below shows how to edit a link starting from a profile's page, but you can follow the same steps from a case's page.

  2. In the grid, click the row for the link.

  4. Click Save on the pop-up.
