In the table below, you can download configuration files of "user roles", which define the actions an individual can complete and the pages they can access in the application with their user account (see details in User Roles Overview). Each user role contains a set of permissions on the Access Control List (see a full list and explanation of all ACL permissions in Access Control List). Importing the configuration files into your new HR installation of Case IQ will add the "Super User", "Manager", "Case Worker", and "Read Only" user roles described in this article. Refer to the Configuration Export and Import article to learn how to import this configuration into your application.

The configuration above includes the following user roles:
User Role |
Description |
Super User |
- Users with the "Super User" role, also called the “System Administrator”, can access all pages and perform any action in the application.
- Super Users are responsible for managing the application's configuration (custom forms, workflows, flags, etc.) and user accounts in the system from the Settings tab (see Settings Overview).
|
Manager |
- Users with the "Manager" role can access all pages except the Settings tab and perform all actions in the main application.
- This means that they can add, view, edit, and delete records of any type and assign and cancel cases, but they cannot change the configuration of the application.
- Generally, they are responsible for assigning and prioritizing cases.
|
Case Worker |
- The "Case Worker" user role, also called the "Analyst" or "Investigator" by some organizations, allows users to edit cases to which they are assigned (as case owner or an investigative team member).
- Case Workers are responsible for investigating cases and moving them through each step in the applicable workflow process. They will only be able to view cases assigned to other users, without the ability to edit them.
- Like the "Manager" role, they cannot access the Settings tab.
|
Read Only |
- Users with the "Read Only" role will only be able to view cases in the system, but will not be able to edit them or access the Settings tab.
- These users are usually in executive leadership positions, who will not edit cases and only need access to view data to provide approvals.
- This user role can also be granted to trainees or interns, so they can view data to analyze the case, but will not be allowed to make changes to a case file.
